I read some articles saying that Estonian banks didn't want to open accounts for those who have the e-residency due to some money laundering case in the past. These articles said the the future of the e-residency program might be in jeopardy because of this. They even said that some banks closed steady opened bank accounts.

What if you have recidency and address in another European country and earn rental and investment income in that country. Can you run all that from the company and only pay the 20 procent tax or none if you reinvest the earnings from the company?

Leap in website states a fee of 79€ per month which includes a bank account. Then why to have a separate bank account with LHV? Looking forward to your response. Thanks a ton!

Hi, I’m just about to register as a sole trader/freelancer (in the north of Ireland, which is actually still the UK), am I best advised to re-register a Ltd company, with an e-residence, at a later date?
Meaning: set up a new Ltd company in Estonia ‘only’, and cease trading as an individual in the UK?
But as I understand it, all I’m then required to do is inform the UK taxman of any income I decide to withdraw?

All the mathematics about fees, taxation etc. are probably correct, but there are serious usability concerns. This card is simply a case of e-bureaucracy. I got one and it never worked (not compatible with this browser, not compatible with that computer and so it goes). Nobody can help or take responsibility, so I simply ended up donating a couple of hundred Euros to the Estonian economy. It is a fallacy to believe that once you digitise something all problems are solved, au contraire. In the case of Estonia I learned the hard way that behind a super modernised facade you deal with entrenched Soviet style bureaucratic attitudes. In the Soviet Union all services were user hostile, and so is the case with the Electronic Residence. – For sure, it is a clever marketing tool for the country….
